I was intrigued by this book when I first heard about it. Some of these 'fake' accounts are followed by hundreds of thousands of people so it's no surprise a book was commissioned, even the Queen has one. More often than not they are just a gimmick, but other times they absolutely work, and this is one of those times. It's the perfect stocking filler this Christmas as it's a book that can entertain the whole family. As someone who grew up receiving the Guinness World Records book every year (and [...]

[Thanks to Hodder & Stoughton for my copy of this.]I would not call myself a Royalist, but neither would I label myself as a Republican, either. Growing up in a Working-Class household, the Royal Family was just a pointless exercise in wasting money. However, since I have become my own woman and saw Prince Charles sing along to 'Always Look On the Bright Side of Life' I can firmly say that they are tolerable and sometimes amusing. Coupled with various Stephen Fry anecdotes, they're not as al [...]

A satirical fake Twitter account of Prince Charles turned out so popular that the Author took it further in the shape of this book. It is a fairly entertaining read, but very uneven. The first part, in which we get to know Prince Charles and his family, is quite witty and funny, but the rest of the book is largely simple and often recycled humour playing on various stereotypes of the British, their attitudes, and their lives. The stereotypes used are very English-centred; Wales, Scotland, and No [...]

Charles_HRH’s guide to Great Britishness, by Prince @Charles_HRH, is as outrageous (especially if you happen to be French) as it is funny. Stereotypes, puns and wordplay abound as the ‘heir to the throne’ expounds on British history, government, culture and the lifestyle choices of his future subjects. It is wittily irreverent with pin sharp truths occasionally penetrating the amusing silliness. For example, when commenting on minimum wage employees he notes:‘People working in shops can [...]

Nowhere near as funny as I had expected. Quite dull in fact. And if you were not British or of British descent, you wouldn't really understand much of it.

There are plenty of guidebooks on Great Britain, but none have been given the all-important Royal Seal of Approval. Popular parody account, @Charles_HRH has been unleashed beyond Twitter with his very own guide book, giving advice on all things British. The Royal family, London Underground and Britain's diverse culture is covered within the pages.I've been following 'Prince Charles' on Twitter for quite a while, so I was excited to learn that there would be a book released and hoped it would be as funny as the tweets - and I wasn't disappointed. The book is hilarious (unless you're French. Charlie likes to po [...]

Going into this, honestly, I didn’t know what to expect and within the first few pages it did annoy me a bit. This was completely my own fault however! As I didn’t previously follow @Charles_HRH on Twitter, I didn’t know what kind of humour I was getting myself into and I think it is better to treat this as a light-hearted humourous book rather than taking it too seriously. This is written from “Prince Charles'” point of view in a witty and honest way and was reminiscent of Mrs Fry’s [...]

Funny but the humor was uneven. This book would be best appreciated by a Brit or a true Anglophile, as there are many witty mentions of acronyms, places, TV shows, Brit Pop Stars and other famous Brits that would be lost on somebody who hasn't so much as watched a BBC show. Good for a laugh, but I wish my library had it in stock so I could've just borrowed it.
