Here we got to see more about Viktor and Ankari. They're reunited after a fierce battle where Viktor lost some of the crew and sustained damage to his ship. He doesn't want anything else but to spend some "quality" (LMAO) time with Ankari, but things get complicated and very confusing. Why everybody wants him out of way? ;)Here the real hero is Ankari. She's at the same time kick-ass and hilarious. I loved her even more than in the first book!An axcellent addition to the series!I'm looking forward [...]

Good, fast-paced sequel I really liked it. The love story between Ankari and her mercenary captain continued with a lot of action and some very nice interaction with some well-known side-characters. I liked this series as a whole a lot, but have to say that Ankari and Viktor are my favourite couple. I guess, that Lauren, the scientist, will get her own novel soon, and since I don't really like her much, I am not sure how this will play out. I didn't like Jamie's book so much, but overall they [...]

Mercenary Courage is Ruby Lionsdrake's latest addition to her Mandrake Company series. Mercenary Courage revisits the main characters from Mercenary Instinct. I am usually not a fan of a book with repeat main characters but in Mercenary Courage, the plot works for me, especially since we get to see Ankari and Viktor's relationship grow realistically.****Possible minor spoilers****In Mercenary Courage, Viktor is just back from a job that resulted in several dead crew members. Ankari and her small [...]

I seriously adore the range of grunts Viktor uses to communicate with. I also love how Ankari brings out a softer side of him. He still grunts, it's just a gentler grunt with the occasional lessening of his tough guy face. *thumbs up*So. A space station. Some danger. A quarantine. Nothing out of the ordinary for this group of mercenaries and the entrepreneurs who fly with them. Wait. Let me rephrase that. Lauren would probably prefer all that to be a little less ordinary. (I'm desperately waitin [...]

Once again we get to spend time with Viktor and Ankari. We first met them in Mercenary Instinct. They should have been oil and water but instead they are a great combination. Viktor has learned to live with the pink shuttle and Ankari understands what Viktor is saying even when there are no words. Now they are in trouble again. Both are on a Midway 5, a space station. Before the real trouble comes Viktor decides he must send Ankari away to keep her safe. Ankari does not want to go. That conservat [...]

This series gets better and better. Now the characters are solid and imaginable in their own right. Victor is by far my favourite, with Sergei a close second.I shall be looking forward to Laurens story, it would be hilarious for her to juggle between Tick and Striker!

Really liked this one. It was great to read about Viktor and Ankari again and to see how their relationship is growing. Story was faced paced and full of action. I've read all these books back to back and now I'm sad that they're over! Need more!

I find that I really like the books where Ankari and Victor are the stars of the story. They are just a larger than life sort of couple and have the most dimensions to their characters. It might be that they were the first couple or that there were just more insights to them as a whole throughout the series, but they’re one of my favorite couples. You really do know more about each character. I like the little touches you see throughout the entire series regarding them. With his growls and her [...]

What can I say, except another great entry in the series. It was nice to come back to a previous couple and spend some time with them after the "HEA" and see what it's like once they getting-together is done. I felt that both Ankari and Viktor's reservations and worries were very real, and handled well. Of course Viktor isn't going to come out and blurt out his feelings, but Ankari knows him well enough by now to interpret his grunts (mostly). The addition of Ankari's family (not in person, just [...]

Steamy romance perfected!!Yes, yes, yes. . . This book in the Mandrake series personifies how tasteful yet still steamy love scenes should be done - like poetry. I'm too lazy to give the page numbers, but the first love scene with Viktor and Ankari in the elevator was exquisite having just the right amount of buildup. They should publish an excerpt of that scene in GQ or Men's Health to help all those guys out there understand a thing or two.On top of all the romance, the plot is action packed a [...]

I am really happy that we got to see more of Viktor and Anakari in this installment of the series. This was another fast paced and action packed adventure, mainly due to Ankari's schemes and plans. I liked that we got to see more of her and Viktor together as the main characters of the story, as we have only really had glimpses and mentions of then in the books since Mercenary Instinct (book 1) when they met. I love they way that they play off each other, and the way that she brings out a softer [...]

Set in a remote space station, Viktor is wanted by GalCon, and forces are trying to set him up to be arrested and held in custody. Meanwhile, there is a supposed quarantine on the space station that Ankari finds suspicious. Another easy and enjoyable read in the series.

Love this authorI recently discover Ruby Lionsdrake, and I struck gold. I have read several books from two of her series, Instead of getting in a rut, each book has been unique and fun. Love it!!!

Enjoyable, however . I'm not sure how to word this, but I think a lot of it might have felt like filler?Lets get a few things out of the way.I don't like Lauren. I can't remember if I've liked her in previous books, but this time I absolutely could not stand her. If she were to have her own book? . I'd read it, but with dread and as quickly as possible so as to get to the book after it. Oh dear, it does look like she gets her own book, and it's the last one in the series. Blegh, that'll end on a [...]

Great series. Flows good and no cliffhangers. Always leaves me wanting to read the next installment. this is the latest installment to the Mandrake Company. Mercenary Courage revisits Ankari and Viktor from Mercenary Instinct. After sending Ankari and the others to a space station whilst the Mandrake Company complete a job. Viktor returns to collect them and complete repairs only be be stuck on the station under quarantine. The Fleet are on his tail for information on relics found (book 4) and ha [...]

3.75ish The characters are good - Ankari and Viktor are interesting people (as are the secondary characters - some of whom were main characters in earlier parts of the series) so it was great to spend time with them again. The story was action-filled fun -- the concept of a space station built by techno-druids was very cool! (One of the things I liked a lot about the original Tenchi Muyo series was the space ship trees.) The romance had its sweet moments (and its hot moments, too), but it's alwa [...]

It was very enjoyable to spend more time with Viktor and Ankari again, this time on a space station the Mafia wishes to take over. Ankari and her partners are there on business while Mandrake Company is fighting elsewhere. About the time Viktor's ship docks, problems begin to surface. Naturally this leads to plenty of action involving ingenious ways to blow things up! The space going Mafia is attempting to extort money from the station business owners and Ankari drafts Viktor into helping her di [...]

The fifth addition to The Mandrake Company series by Ruby Lionsdrake. Revisiting Ankari and Viktor, whose story was first told in the first book, Mercenary Instinct. Ankari Markovich, along with Jamie Flipkins and Lauren Keys, are left on Midway 5 while the mercenaries conduct a dangerous mission. But the day the Albatross pulls in at Midway 5 things start getting interesting. Ankari and Lauren witness a man dying and apparently he wasn't the only one. Now GalCon is after Viktor Mandrake and the [...]

I think Mercenary Courage, the latest (#5) in a series sci-fi/romance novels by Ruby Lionsdrake, is my favorite so far (with Trial and Temptation as my second favorite). Ankari and Viktor find themselves trapped on a space station and somehow manage to make enemies of the local authorities, the military, other mercenary outfits, and the mafia. Our intrepid heroes aren't the type to sit back and let others save the day, which means lots of entertaining mayhem ensues. For those new to the series, b [...]

9/2017:Still enjoying rereading this series even if I am reading it in order this time! Each book can be read as a stand alone, but there's a lot of satisfaction to reading them in order too4/2015:So enjoying this series!A free book sucked me into this series (Book 1) and I really wanted to find out what happened with the other two women, Lauren and Julie, so I started checking out the other book descriptions. But since Book 2 didn't deal with either of them and this one, Book 5, dealt with the [...]

I am a long-time Ruby Lionsdrake fan. She got me reading romance when I had shied away from it in the past. I thoroughly enjoy her quirky characters and the ways she brings seemingly opposite folks together into a functional pair. I love that the romance in her stories builds slowly over time and how the steamy scenes are really just that. SCENES. It doesn't feel like the entire book is built up around a sexual relationship. Rather, the scenes feel organically placed and paced within the larger [...]

This is more of an overall review for this Sci-Fi Series which I've enjoyed more & more with each book (this being the latest.) Not a surprise since this is actually author Lindsay Buroker and she is an absolute auto-buy for me. She writes under the pen name, Ruby Lionsdrake for her more Adult series. And while these are more focused on romance than her YA series, the sexual content is a nice addition to really great characters, story, humor and dialogue. She's one of my favorites for these [...]

Another great one! These just keep getting better! I was so waiting for this book, and it did not disappoint! Blew through it! The action and adventures they get up to never cease to amaze me. The steamy action never disappoints either! I always enjoy the addition of new characters to get a better look at all the crazy characters under the Albatross's roof. Asarov showed to be another very interesting and very supportive member of Mandrake's team. Also the ending that leads me to believe Lauren m [...]

I can't get enough of this series. This and the other stories always remind me of Firefly but turned romantic and thankfully no Reavers. I have no idea if others even know what I'm talking about. All the fighting, dodging the Fleet, running around space from place to place trying to find unconventional "work", and then there are these women that are so quirky with this odd medical business that find trouble everywhere. It is a recipe for an enjoyable read every time. This adventure holds true to [...]

*** I read this book a week before release as part of Lionsdrake's Typo patrol ***Courage explores Ankari and Viktor's relationship (first seen in Mercenary Instinct) as they face new challenges together. I really enjoyed that Lionsdrake focused on the couple from the first book again instead of bringing in a new pairing of a hero and heroine. I like when a series features a new couple for each book, but this change surprised and delighted me. At first I was still hoping for a new couple to emer [...]

Ankari and Viktor revisited.Summary: 5 stars. A good scifi mystery with tons of action and humor.Mercenary Courage is the fifth Mandrake Company book and is the sequel to Mercenary Instinct (the first book in the series).I was glad to revisit Ankari and Viktor again in this book. Since they are already a couple this book is more action-focused than romance-focused. There are some intimate moments as well as funny ones. The plot is a good, solid mystery with tons of action and humor thrown in.A g [...]

I think this might be my favorite of the series. Loved seeing Viktor and Ankari relationship develop and grow. The story line is fast paced and there are more interaction with some of the established characters, building a more complex story. I really enjoy the way each story brings more color to the Mandrake Company universe, reminding me of the Dragonriders of PERN series by Anne McCaffrey. Enjoy

Dang, I felt like I was missing something as I was reading this book, like I came in during the middle of the story, and then as I go to review it I see 4 stars on the forth one in the series, but it is still listed as to be read. I did miss something! ARGH! I think I would have like it better if I had known what they were talking about. my fault. I still enjoyed the action, and getting to see our first couple together again.
