First sentence: This is Sunny. What makes you happy? Premise/plot: I'm Sunny introduces the characters Sunny and Tizzy. (Tizzy is a tornado who stars in his own book, I'm Silly!) What makes Sunny happy? A balloon--a red one. Everything is going okay until Tizzy wants a turn with the balloon. Sunny does not want to share. Will these two work it out?My thoughts: I liked it okay. I enjoyed the other books in the 'My First Comics' series more. But it wasn't bad. I would recommend reading all four bo [...]

Sunny has found a balloon and it makes her happy. Tizzy the tornado admires the balloon and asks if she can hold it. When Sunny refuses, it makes Tizzy very sad. Can Sunny figure out a way they can both be happy? This is a board book, but it features panels and speech bubbles and other aspects of graphic novels. Sharing is something super difficult for the target age group, so the plot line will be very relevant. And have you ever met a tornado character before? Great little board book for little [...]

This just really fails as a board book intended for the youngest of kids and as a piece of sequential art.

Great art, great message! I like that it's available in this format, but it doesn't work very well as a read-aloud (as most comics, don't).

This is the sort of children's book that makes parents everywhere think they can publish a book for children.

Jennifer and Matthew Holm, authors of Babymouse and Squish graphic novel series for kids, have turned to babies with a new series of board books called My first comics. In I'm Sunny, they use a very simple graphic style with full page panels or pages with 4 panels to tell a simple friendship story between Sun, who finds a balloon, and Tizzy Tornado, who wants to share the balloon. What will Sunny do? A perfect introduction to comics for the youngest reader or for parents to share with their litt [...]

These unique board books offer a developmentally appropriate introduction to comics for babies and toddlers, from the sibling creators of Babymouse and Squish. The straightforward storylines focus on managing emotions, and are told with simple color palettes and traditional comics elements such as panels, word balloons and sound effects. The bold, exaggerated art supports the words, and reinforces the information literacy skill of reading pictures to follow the stories.

Board Book ages 0-2Sunny the sun is happy because she has caught a ballon, but when Tizzy the tornado comes again, Sunny doesn't want to share. Then she feels sad. Sharing makes them both happy. Told in comic book format, this story is cute but perhaps too advanced for the intended age groupmsradius/2016/11/cyb

I'm Sunny is the companion to I'm Grumpy, and Jennifer and Matthew share the story of a Sun who refuses to share but eventual apologizes. Like I'm Grumpy, this is a cheerful board book that helps readers understand being sunny, and how to interact with those who may not feel the same. With companion illustrations, both books are sure to be surefire hits.

This didn't go how I thought it would, but I guess I'm okay with that. I liked I'm Grumpy more, though. 3.5 stars.

I read this with my three year old brother. As soon as we finished, he told me that it was awesome, and that he wanted to read the one with the cloud on it.

Board books to introduce the youngest readers to comics and the storytelling. Simple storylines and cute illustrations will hopefully appeal to customers!
